Tax Impact

What Does This Mean for Individual Taxpayers?

One of the most common questions about the proposed new Franklin County Technical School facility is, "How will this affect my taxes?"

The cost of the project would be shared among Franklin Tech's 19 member communities through the district's existing assessment formula. Each community's share is calculated using:

  • 50% Population — most recent U.S. Census
  • 50% Equalized Valuation — most recent Department of Revenue report

Based on current estimates, the estimated tax impact on a typical homeowner is projected to range from approximately $87 to $335 per year, depending on the community.

This investment will support a modern, energy-efficient facility designed to prepare students for high-demand careers, strengthen workforce development opportunities, and support local businesses throughout the region. The new facility will serve students, families, employers, and communities for generations while ensuring that Franklin Tech can continue providing the high-quality career and technical education that has benefited our region for more than 50 years.

The proposed facility represents a long-term investment in the region's students, workforce, and economic future while continuing Franklin Tech's mission of providing exceptional career and technical education opportunities for the communities it serves.
